HOW WE CREATE YOUR PERSONALIZED POTTERY
Michelle Dearing, our dot pottery artist, creates high quality, memorable hand painted designs on pottery just as you request. We will work directly with you to design a gift that is right on the dot!
Step 1 • Send Request for Personalized Pottery
Sumbit your request to order personalized pottery by filling out and submitting one of our simple online forms. We can work to create exactly the piece you have in mind.
Option 1 • the collection • Select from one of our unique and memorable personalizable pottery designs … and we’ll create it just for you.
Option 2 • you design it! • If you know exactly what you want, tell us all about your ideas and our artist will work directly with you to design and hand paint pottery just as you request. You may browse our online catalog of available pottery items as well as preview our many beautiful colors our artist will use to hand paint your personalized pottery.
Step 2 • Design and Create
Once we receive your request, our dot pottery artist will carefully review it and begin working on your design.
If you selected on of our great collection designs, Michelle will begin the hand painting of your order right away. As soon as the painting work is complete, but not yet finished with the final kiln firing, you will receive a preview picture to review and authorize before completely your payment securely online.
If you submitted your own design request, Michelle will first complete a rough paper sketch of your design idea to let you know how it will be layed out and ensure she understands your request. You will receive a proof via email of the sketch to authorize or suggests changes.
With your approval of the initial sketch, the artist will begin painting your pottery. Once the hand painting is complete, you will once again be able to review a preview picture of your pottery–before it has been fired in our kiln–to approve your personalized design.
Your payment information may be securely submitted at this time (see below for more information) and your personalized pottery will be fired in our kiln for our professional ceramic finishing.
After kiln firing, your personalized pottery will be ready to ship and be enjoyed for many years to come!
Please allow us with about 10-14 days from today to ship your personalized, hand painted pottery. A RUSH order is available upon request, but a $25 will apply.
STEP 3 • Payment Options
We accept all major credit and debit cards for payment through the PayPal processing system. You do not need a PayPal account to complete your payment. You may either pay with your credit card securely online using PayPal (we will provide you with an easy online payment link to follow). If you have additional time to receive your finished pottery, you may also pay with check or money order.
As soon as we have received your payment, we will complete your personalized pottery by sealing it with our food-safe clear glaze and fire it in our kiln. Please allow at least 3-5 business days for kiln firing and FedEx Ground Shipping of your pottery.

Step 4 • Shipping
Your finished ceramics will be carefully packed to ensure its safety, and then shipped directly to you via FedEx Ground. If you prefer a faster delivery option, FedEx Express may also be requested. You will receive a tracking number via email as soon as your pottery ships. We ship everything in recycled boxes, packing materials, etc. to help reduce our carbon footprint. If you require “gift ready” new packaging, please inform us prior to payment. Additional packing fees will apply.
Actual packing and shipping costs are in addition to our basic product pricing. Shipping costs are based on destination and total weight of your order, and if it is being shipped to a business or residence address (business addresses are less expensive!). You will receive a shipping estimate for your order before any work is completed by our artist.
PRICING FOR YOUR PERSONALIZED POTTERY
The Pottery Prices featured in our online pottery catalog include the professional glaze and kiln firing process for your pottery plus up to 2 hours of actual hand painting time by our artist for personalized designs you request.
If you request a particularly complicated design that requires additonal time to hand paint, there will be an additional charge of $15/hour of hand painting time to complete the hand painting work. You will be provided with a detailed estimate of any additional charges before any work has begun by our artist.
Shipping & Packing fees are based on FedEx Ground rates and is an additional charge. Sales Tax of 8.0% for customers within the State of Illinois will apply to all non-tax exempt orders.
Our special Signature Ceramics require additional processing and design steps and are priced differently [ learn more ].
Payment & Return Policy
Once your personalized pottery order has been hand painted and kiln fired, we are unable to refund your order because it has been specifically customized per your request. To avoid errors in your personalization options (e.g., spellings of names, dates, etc.) you will be required to review and authorize preview proofs of your custom design before the finishing work is completed.
Dynamic Patterns does guarantee that your pottery will arrive undamanged and free of any manufacturing defects. It happens very rarely, but is always a concern with anything fragile. If you receive damaged pottery, please contact us immediately and save the packaging so we can begin a claims process with FedEx. We will also begin work immediately to replace your damaged pottery.
